February 2010
Tasting Schedule
Friday February 5th Jacella Wines.
After 20 years of making wine in such places as the Carneros, the Rheingau, South Australia and Washington State, Michael Carr has returned to his roots and is making wine locally again. We are pleased to introduce you to Michael, his wife Terra and the wines of Jacella: Riesling Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Saturday February 6th Mixing It Up With Syrah.
Syrah is getting itself mixed up with a lot of dark characters lately. Like Cabernet, Zinfandel and, watch out, Petite Sirah. As shady as this might sound we think there is more than a glimmer of hope. Particularly when these unions are crafted under the following monikers: Ed’s Red, Rumpus and Fusion.
Friday February 12th Kermit Lynch
The name Kermit Lynch invokes images of France; the country side, the culture, the vignerons. The success of Lynch is most evident in his business of importing good wine from a select group of winemakers. We would like to share a glimpse into the brilliant finds of this native son. Taste with us Jean Foillard Morgon, Le Pigeoulet en Provence and Les Traveres de Fontanes Cabernet Sauvignon.
Saturday February 13th Bubbly For Thy Valentine.
Your Valentine’s Day plans are in the works so here is your chance to “ice the cake”, as they say. Come on down to our cozy Woodlands Market Wine Bar and get some of that “icing” in the form of these tasty and special sparklers: Alimant Laugner Alsace Rosé, Ruinart Blanc de Blanc Champagne and Jean Veselle Brut Rosé Oeil de Perdrix.
Friday February 19th Benziger Family Winery.
The Benziger Family has diminished their wine production over the past three years to assure that their grapes are sourced from sustainable and biodynamic vineyards. Join us as we taste Benziger Lake and Sonoma Counties Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiacomo Chardonnay and Three Blocks Merlot.
Saturday February 20th Pinot for Every Price Point.
As the interest in Pinot Noir continues to grow we find it necessary to find those wines that will suffice for every imaginable occasion. Come and try these Pinots on for size and see if they aren’t the cat’s pajamas: Parker Station California, Saintsbury Garnet Carneros and Bohemian Vineyard Russian River Valley.
